One of only 70 made to celebrate the career of country performer Kitty Wells who died in July this year. Engelmann Spruce top with richly grained Indian Rosewood back and sides. Scalloped bracing. Grained Ivoroid body binding with fine herringbone purfling. Style 45 Abalone rosette. Tortoiseshell pickguard. Ebony bridge with bone saddle. Modified Low Oval profile Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard inlaid with diamonds and squares position markers in pearl. Pearl crown inlaid at the fifth fret. 1 11/16" bone nut width and 25.4" scale length with 14 frets to the body. Schaller enclosed chrome tuners with pearloid buttons. Ebony headplate with inlaid pearl and Abalone Honky Tonk Angel motif. Internal label signed by the late queen of country music herself, Kitty Wells, and her singing partner (and husband) Johnny Wright. With hard case. This limited edition Martin is in fine condition and offers most of the projection of a dreadnought body with the added definition of OOO body depth as well as a fast low action. The tone is sweet and resonant with good sustain. A real angel! SOLD
