1966 Baldwin Model 525 Double Six, Black SOLD

As most of you will know, Baldwin is what Burns became for a while from 1965 to 1970. This Baldwin Model 525 Double Six 12-string electric is basically unchanged from the Burns Double Six which preceeded it from 1964 to 1965. The Double Six contributed to a significant portion of the 1960s British sound in the hands of performers such as The Searchers, The Easybeats, The Troggs and, of course, The Shadows. This example is factory finished in black which, although offered as a standard colour option, is unusual. Burns Marvin style body with bolt-on neck (with the famous Burns gearbox adjustment) with bound Rosewood fingerboard. Three part, three-ply black/white/black scratchplate with three Burns Tri-Sonic pick-ups. One volume and two tone controls with three-way selector switch. Adjustable metal bridge and fixed tailpiece with the coverplate still intact. Now that's rare! Enclosed Van Ghent type tuners with metal buttons. This 45 year-old Double Six has seen some road use and does exhibit playwear in the form of dings and scratches (Fender would charge extra for this!) but it seems to have visual character in abundance and is great to hold and play. The sound is superb with 'When You Walk in the Room' available at the twirl of a plectrum. I love it! SOLD
