1930 Stromberg-Voisinet Parlour, Hawaiian Scene SOLD

In 1921, the Stromberg-Voisinet company grew from the original Groeschel Mandolin Company and was formed into the American Kay Musical Instrument Company in 1931. This unusual parlour guitar dates from 1930 and is in good playable condition. The top, back and sides are Mahogany. The body is bound and has multi-wood purfling as does the rosette. Pyramid style Rosewood bridge. The body is painted with an Hawaiian scene. The painting is in oils, original and in good condition (now I sound like the Antiques Roadshow). The scratchplate is Mother-of-Pearl. The vee profile, 12-frets to the body neck is Cedar with a Mother-of-Pearl fingerboard featuring pearl dot markers. The headstock is bound and carries the original tuners which are in fine working condition. With the guitar is a very old cardboard style case in fair condition; no great shakes! There are two or three old repaired cracks on the guitar but it is otherwise in good condition for an 82 year-old and very unusual guitar. The sound is typical of a small-body Mahogany guitar; crisp and delicate-sounding and, in this case, exceptional volume. A pretty little guitar with useful attributes. SOLD
