1995 Vince Hockey OM 'Pearly King,' Natural SOLD

This gorgeous guitar is made from CF Martin mature tonewood bought from the factory. Each set has a serial number written on it (CF Martin allocate serial numbers at the choosing-woods stage). Underneath the top is written 'All materials from CF Martin & Co 1995,' then signed by Vince Hockey. The top is an OM-45 Sitka Spruce top dating to 1982 with serial number 439626. The sides are beautifully figured OM-28 Indian Rosewood dating to 1992 with the serial number 521280. The lovely three-piece back is an HD-35 back adapted to OM size. The top has gorgeous abalone purfling and this is continued around the fingerboard extension. The binding is Tortoiseshell. Abalone rosette. Ebony bridge with abalone diamonds set into the wings. Tusq saddle. Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard inlaid with abalone 'tramlines' which continues onto the headstock. Small abalone marker dots. 1 3/4" nut width with a comfortable c-profile neck. Gold-plated CF Martin enclosed tuners. With Hiscox hard case. I have owned this guitar from new and can vouch for its extraordinary tonal qualities. It is a fitting tribute to the genius of Vince Hockey (the official CF Martin UK vintage repair luthier since the 1980s) who I am proud to know as a friend and mentor. The guitar has a few dings and the top lacquer is begining to craze a little but that is insignificant once you pluck the strings. Listen......did I just hear the angels sing? SOLD
